California Western School of Law

California Western School of Law

Established in 1924, California Western is the oldest Law School in San Diego. In 1975, California Western became an independent private Law School located in the heart of downtown San Diego. Today the law school partners with San Diego State University to offer several duel degree programs. These include getting a Juris Doctorate Degree and either a Masters in Business or Social Work or a PHD in Political Science or History.

California Western strives to provide a diverse student body. It accepts two entering classes per year, one in January and one in August. It works on a trimester system allowing students to complete Law School in as little as two years. California Western also offers a part time program for those students that want to continue working while going to school or just take fewer classes.

California Western has several academic programs including seven areas of concentration. These include a focused study in Business Law, Family Law, Criminal Justice, Problem Solving, Health Law & Policy, Intellectual Property, International Law and Labor & Employment Law. It also offers a clinical internship program, moot court and appellate trial teams, a CA innocence project, and a study abroad program.

California Western has an amazing bar preparation program as well and was recently named one of the top Law Schools in preparing students for the California Bar Exam. In July 2011, California Western graduates achieved the highest bar passage rate in San Diego for the fourth year in a row. The school and staff are dedicated to educating and training students to be ethical, competent, and compassionate lawyers.
