Hannah’s House

"If our American way of life fails a child, it fails us all."
Pearl S. Buck

As San Diego family law attorneys, we know custody and visitation issues can be difficult. For example, one party may have a restraining order against the other party, making visitation exchanges difficult, if not impossible. Or, one party may be battling drug and alcohol issues requiring their visitation to be supervised by a third party. Fortunately, in San Diego there are many community resources that we can work with to help our clients through these difficult times. One such resource is Hannah’s House.

Founded in 1988, Hannah’s House provides more than 5,000 hours of parenting time to over 1,500 San Diego County families annually. While its initial focus was to provide employee assistance and drug-free programs for the workplace, Hannah’s House has gradually broadened its focus to include counseling services for families in need, becoming a key pillar of the San Diego family law community. Hannah’s House recognized that divorce and parental separation are critical transition periods for children, and therefore dedicated itself to helping to solve these problems.

Hannah’s House’s mission is to provide a safe place where those experiencing the difficulties of parental separation can come together to resolve the conflict in a constructive and positive manner for the sake of their children. Hannah’s House is dedicated to protecting children prior to them becoming pawns in the middle of a long, drawn out custody battle. Hannah’s House believes that is it vital to the well-being of a family to prevent family violence during the critical period of transitions to a new family life. The Law Offices of Nancy Bickford understands and supports the goals of Hannah’s House.

The goals of Hannah’s House are very clear: helping children to bounce back from the trauma of a family conflict, providing parents the support and information they need to take care of themselves and their children, and teaching parents and children the skills they need to create a safe and productive family structure.

Hannah’s House offers a vast array of services, including supervised visitation and exchange, cooperative co-parenting classes, facilitated co-parenting meetings, pathways to peace anger management classes, substance abuse assessments and visitation monitor training programs. Hannah’s House has consistently benefited the San Diego Community and continues to do so today. Support for Hannah’s House comes from private donation of individual’s, foundations and corporations.
